Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Who will be the math tutor and what are their credentials?
A. Hi, I am Jaspreet Gill and I will provide math coaching to your child. I am a math instructor at the Western Nevada College and I hold Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have been helping students with mathematics for 13 years in Carson City.
Q. What happens after I contact you?
A. I will set up a time for a free initial consultation. During this meeting, I will identify the areas in which your child needs help by doing an initial assessment.
Q. My child received a D in the mid-term and she has her final next week. Could you help?
A. One or two hours of tutoring right before the exam may not be that effective unless your child needs help with few concepts or specific areas. A more regular schedule, 1-2 hours a week during the school year will greatly improve the grades and overall understanding in mathematics.
Q. Is the instruction one-on-one?
A. Yes, I offer one-on-one individualized instruction tailored to match your child's specific needs.
Q. How long each tutoring session is going to be?
A. One hour sessions are often enough for K-12 students. Sessions could be longer if there is a lot of catching up to do.
Q. What should my child bring to the tutoring session?
A. Please bring textbooks, notes, homework assignments, tests/quizzes, syllabus, and any other relevant classroom or test prep material that's readily available.
Q. Do you provide help with NV High School Proficiency Exam?
A. Yes, I have prepared several students for the high school proficiency exam. I offer an 8 week preparation program (4 hours per week) for the exam.
Q. Do you provide in-home tutoring?
A. I do not provide in-home tutoring. Tutoring location will be my home office located at 2974 Collier Ct, Carson City, NV or WNC. I do provide Online Tutoring if travelling is not an option for you.
